A history teacher runs a classroom experiment on fascism, and her students slowly form a disciplined, united group bound by symbols and slogans, until the game turns dangerously real. The play is based on the real experiment “The Third Wave” by teacher Ron Jones, later the novel “The Wave” by Morton Rhue, and asks how group loyalty can turn into exclusion of others, drawing parallels to today's populism and autocratic movements. The piece contains a content note on racism and is recommended from age 14; workshops are offered in cooperation with Gesicht Zeigen! e.V.
