Katharina Thalbach reads E. T. A. Hoffmann's story “Nussknacker und Mäusekönig” together with her daughter Anna and granddaughter Nellie. The reading follows seven-year-old Marie, who protects her nutcracker and is swept into a perilous, fantastical adventure. Illustrations bring Hoffmann's world to life, accompanied by music from Tchaikovsky's ballet “The Nutcracker”, which the story inspired.
