This Russian literacy course for children aged 6-7 focuses on reading and writing. Children read syllables, words and short texts, and gradually move from single letters to whole words and sentences. They work on sounds and letters, stress, and the softness and hardness of consonants, and get to know their first spelling rules. Besides exercises, they play with words, look for language patterns and invent their own examples. The course suits children who already know their letters and can hear sounds in words, though beginners are welcome too, with the teacher's help. It is led by Elena Sverkunova, a primary school teacher.
